So meet Caleb, one of our talented Tier II NOC Technicians.

Hi Caleb, appreciate you taking the time to chat with us today. Can you tell us a little bit about your personal and professional background?

Caleb: I am from Sanford, FL, not born and raised but pretty close to it. I started my technical career in 2002 at Seminole State College after leaving the military. I earned a degree with a specialization in Cisco Networking. After a few years of working in construction, installing low-voltage wiring, I started working at Rollins College in their I.T. department as a help desk technician. During my time at Rollins I completed my B.A. in computer science.

When did you start working at Highwinds and what attracted you to the company?

Caleb: I started working at Highwinds in 2012. I was very excited about the amount of knowledge that could be gained as well as the opportunity to move up within the company. When I came to Highwinds during the hiring process, I could tell it was a fast-paced and serious work environment, but at the same time very relaxed and cool.

Please share a specific challenge that you have handled in your role at Highwinds.

Caleb: At times, in the past especially, our customers contacted us with ranging concerns, either with their networking or the CDN. This type of situation was a bit overwhelming to me at first. You’re looking at a massive system and a little bit of information that the customer is providing and thinking, “how am I going to figure out what is wrong?” As I worked with the system longer and learned more and more about how it works, I know better how to tackle these types of issues. I have even come to enjoy the challenge of finding the issue as quickly as possible, for everyone’s sake.

Tell us about some hobbies that you enjoy. Also, how about letting us in on something that nobody (or most nobody) knows about you?

Caleb: At the moment my “hobby time” is mostly taken up by my two little girls, ages 9 and 22 months. My wife and I have had two daughters
in the last two years. They are a ton of fun and keep me pretty well occupied outside of work. Before that
I enjoyed doing outdoor activities like hiking, camping, running, and triathlons.

What are some trends you’re seeing with the companies you work with? Can you share some insights

Caleb: One thing I am seeing a lot of is the increase in the complexity of website interaction. It seems almost every day we are getting requests for added features in StrikeTracker, so it can interact with the growing complexity of the websites that are using the CDN.

What do you like best about working at Highwinds?

Caleb: I really like the environment and the people. Most everyone here has a great attitude about their job and is committed to working hard and doing the best that they can.

As I said before, I was attracted to the fact that, as an employee, I have the ability to grow within the company. I have never seen a work environment like it and I believe that it’s very unique.
